Courtroom Guidelines

  • Courtroom Guidelines
  • It is a violation of Judicial Conference policy, and Local Rule IA 2-1, to record, transmit or broadcast United States Bankruptcy Court proceedings with wireless or any other communication devices. Wireless communication devices include, but are not limited to, mobile phones, laptop computers and personal digital assistants (PDAs). Cameras and other devices (pen recorders, phones, etc.) that are capable of recording, reproducing and transmitting are prohibited from use within the Courtroom.
    Failure to abide by this Rule may result in the forfeiture of any such device.

Matters Under Submission

The record is closed when a matter is taken under submission. Unless specifically ordered by the court, no additional briefs or other materials may be filed with the court for a matter under submission, and such briefs or materials may be stricken by court order without further notice.

Parties who are ordered or permitted to submit post-hearing briefs and materials must include a Notice of Submission, and provide courtesy copies to the courtroom deputy.

Order Shortening Time (LR 9006)

    • Motion
      Motion for Order Shortening Time must state the reason why the time for the hearing needs to be shortened.
    • Attorney Information Sheet
      (Form NVB 9006) must be filed with the Motion for Order Shortening Time.
    • Orders
      After receiving order shortening time from counsel, Clerk’s staff will add the hearing date and time to the order after reviewing with appropriate Judge. Counsel is not authorized to select a date and time from the self-calendaring section of the US Bankruptcy Court website for Orders Shortening Time.

Trial Exhibits

  • Unless otherwise ordered, each party shall lodge with the Courtroom Deputy Clerk not later than a minimum of 2 business days prior to the trial, the original and 1 copy of all exhibits, bound and tabbed. All exhibits shall be marked with stickers on the lower right corner of the exhibit whenever possible.
  • Complete required exhibit log (NVB 9017) which should be included in each volume of exhibits.
