Next Generation of CM/ECF (NextGen) is Coming November 2021!

Prepare now to avoid delays later!

On November 15, 2021, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Nevada will go live on the Next Generation of CM/ECF (NextGen).

WHAT'S CHANGING

One of the benefits of NextGen is Central Sign-On. Attorneys/limited users will need to remember only one username and password to obtain access to e-filing in our Court and in all other NextGen courts (bankruptcy, district, and appellate) that have granted the user e-filing privileges. The same account will also provide access to all federal court cases and records that are available through PACER’s Case Search function.

ACTION REQUIRED BEFORE NOVEMBER 15, 2021

While filing documentation in NextGen will remain the same as with the current CM/ECF system, accessing NextGen for filing purposes will be different. Current electronic filers may start preparing for this change NOW by doing the following:

  • Make sure you have an individual PACER account. A shared account that your whole firm or office uses is not sufficient.  If you do not already have an individual PACER account, you must create one before the court upgrades to NextGen. Creating an individual PACER account is free.
  • Upgrade your PACER account. If your individual PACER account was created before August 11, 2014 or if your PACER username is only 6 characters long, it must be upgraded.
  • Make sure you know your current CM/ECF Login and Password (you will need this to link your PACER account on or after November 15, 2021).

Detailed information regarding NextGen and instructions on how to prepare for the upgrade are available on the court’s website by accessing the following link: https://www.nvb.uscourts.gov/electronic-case-filing/nextgen/.

E-filers who fail to complete these steps will be unable to access the electronic filing system on or after November 15, 2021.

IMPLEMENTATION WEEKEND

We plan to implement NextGen during the period of November 10, 2021 through November 15, 2021. Our CM/ECF system will be unavailable for e-filing during the upgrade. Users will be able to resume e-filing on November 15, 2021 at 8:00 A.M. PST after they have linked their PACER account to CM/ECF. Prior to the NextGen implementation, we will post and email detailed instructions for logging onto NextGen for the first time.

ACTION REQUIRED ON OR AFTER NOVEMBER 15, 2021

After the court upgrades to NextGen on November 15, 2021, you must link your current CM/ECF account credentials to your upgraded individual PACER account. This is a one-time process that can be completed ONLY AFTER the court upgrades to NextGen. The court will notify you once the upgrade to NextGen has been completed so you may link your accounts.

Detailed information regarding linking instructions is available on the court’s website by accessing the following link: https://www.nvb.uscourts.gov/electronic-case-filing/nextgen/.

E-filers who fail to complete these steps will be unable to access the electronic filing system on or after November 15, 2021.
