U.S. Bankruptcy Court, District of Nevada, Open During Government Shutdown
The U.S. Bankruptcy Court will remain open during the current lapse in appropriations (aka "shutdown"). Your bankruptcy case will proceed as normal and you should continue to pay all required fees, meet deadlines, and attend hearings. Failure to do so may result in the dismissal of your case.
On October 20, 2025, the Judiciary entered Phase 2 of the shutdown and thus payments for unclaimed funds, reimbursements, refunds, and bankruptcy trustee payments will be delayed. Contractors have been notified of the Court's inability to pay or enter into new financial obligations. These payments can resume when a continuing resolution or appropriations bill is passed by Congress.
The Court may be operating at a reduced staffing level beginning October 20 but will continue to fulfill its constitutional duty of processing cases and holding hearings. Effective Friday, October 24, 2025, and continuing until the conclusion of the federal government shutdown, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Nevada will be closed on Fridays. Please monitor the court's website for updates regarding the status of court operations.
Electronic filing through the Case Management/Electronic Case Files (CM/ECF) system will remain available for the electronic filing of documents. The Clerk's Office remains open Monday - Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For Emergency Filings or questions, please contact the Clerk's Office at 866-232-1266.
