Temporary PACER Fee Update: Effective January 1, 2027

To fund the accelerated development of a modernized and highly secure national case management and public access system, the Judiciary is implementing a temporary per-page fee increase for electronic public access. This has been approved by the Executive Committee on behalf of the Judicial Conference.

Key Changes:

  • Per-Page Fee: The per-page fee increases by two cents, moving from 10 cents to 12 cents.
  • Quarterly Exemption: The automatic quarterly fee waiver will increase from $30 to $40.
  • Duration: The increase will remain in place for a five-year period.

What this means for you:

Because of the increased fee waiver, individual users who incur $40 or less in services per quarter will continue to incur no fee or fee increase. This is the first PACER fee adjustment in nearly 15 years; the last adjustment occurred in 2012 when the fee was raised from 8 cents to 10 cents.
