NextGen CM/ECF

On November 15, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Nevada upgraded the Case Management/Electronic Case Filing System (CM/ECF) to the Next Generation of CM/ECF (NextGen). NextGen simplifies electronic filing by combining ECF and PACER accounts into a single account.

Benefits of NextGen for the CM/ECF Filer

One of the benefits in NextGen is Central Sign-On (CSO), a login process that allows e-filing attorneys and non-attorneys to use one PACER login and password to access any NextGen court (district, appellate, and bankruptcy) in which they have permission to file. Click here to access the PACER website.

Note:  Not all courts have implemented NextGen CM/ECF. If you file in courts that have not converted to NextGen, you must continue to use that court's CM/ECF login and password until they implement NextGen CM/ECF.  Click here to see the status for courts.

NextGen Requirements

Current E-Filers:
What to do after NextGen is installed on November 15, 2021

PLEASE NOTE: Electronic filers will not be able to file in NextGen if they have not obtained an individual PACER account and/or updated their account as required.

Users must link their upgraded PACER account to a current CM/ECF account. This step must be completed before you can file documents in NextGen.

Do you know your current CM/ECF login and password?
You must know your current CM/ECF login and password before the Court upgrades to NextGen. If the login information is stored in the browser, it will be lost and not recoverable.

Questions regarding CM/ECF accounts should be directed to the ECF Help Desk..

FINAL STEP: Link your individual PACER account to your existing CM/ECF Account.

To file documents in NextGen, all current e-filers who had filing privileges with our court before November 15, 2021, need to link their prior CM/ECF account with their upgraded PACER account. Click here for instructions on linking your account . Each individual user must have his/her own PACER account, including filing agents. Shared PACER accounts may not be used.

New E-Filers:

PLEASE NOTE: Electronic filers will not be able to file in NextGen if they have not obtained an individual PACER account and/or updated their account as required.

If you have never had an e-filing account with our court and you have an existing PACER account, you must request permission to file in our court where your submission will be reviewed by staff.

Please complete the appropriate ECF Registration Form, submit it to the court and then follow the instructions in the E-File Registration links below.

If you do not have a PACER account or have not upgraded your PACER account, pease follow the steps below:

DO YOU HAVE YOUR OWN PACER ACCOUNT?

You must have your own PACER account, which will be linked to your CM/ECF filing account to access NextGen CM/ECF. Shared PACER accounts may no longer be used by CM/ECF users.

HAVE YOU UPGRADED YOUR PACER ACCOUNT?

If you already have your own PACER account, but it was created prior to August 11, 2014, you must upgrade it.

WOULD YOUR FIRM BENEFIT FROM A FIRM BILLING ACCOUNT (PACER ADMINISTRATIVE ACCOUNT)?

Firms can set up a PACER Administrative Account (PAA) to manage all their user accounts and have central billing for PACER access fees.

FILING AGENTS

To become a filing agent AFTER the Court is live on NextGen, follow these instructions. PARALEGALS who e-file on behalf of the US Trustee MUST become Filing Agents.
